Creating an Information Product Empire

Information products, also known as infoproducts, are digital products that you create and sell online. When people use the word “infoproduct”, they often think of eBooks and reports, but infoproducts can also come in the form of video courses, tutorials, audio series, resource guides, and more. The advantage of selling information products is that there is no physical product to deliver to the customer. They consist of files that people download to their computer. This means that they have low overhead and great potential for profits.

Launching an Empire

An infoproduct ‘empire’ is a long-term strategy in which you create and sell a whole range of products, rather than just developing and promoting just one. In addition to maximizing your earning potential and getting more sales, launching a number of products helps you to build your reputation, establish your expertise, and engage your audience. You’re constantly creating new solutions that respond to your market’s needs, and that produces a kind of snowball effect that earns you more money AND credibility.

Your Army of Affiliates

Another advantage of creating an infoproduct empire is that it has the potential to produce a residual income. You’re not just selling each product once, and you don’t have to do all the selling by yourself. Instead, you can enlist an online sales force through an affiliate network. This is a website where you make your product available to affiliates, who help you sell it through their websites and marketing channels. Your affiliates increase your sales and exposure and they get a commission for their work.

Picking a Niche

To start your own infoproduct empire, you first need to choose a niche. This is an area of knowledge in which you’ll become a recognized expert. It’s important that you stick to one niche and be consistent, rather than trying to meet the needs of all people. When you jump around in different markets, it confuses customers and waters down any brand you’re trying to create.

Start by making a list of topics you’re passionate about. For each item on this list, research online to see if other people are interested in it as well. More importantly, make sure it’s a niche where people are buying. You can research this by looking at affiliate network websites and checking out products in that niche to see their sales.

It helps if you already know something about your niche, but it’s not necessary. It could be something you’d like to learn about. As you create your information products, you’ll gain a thorough knowledge of the topic.

Solving Your Market’s Problems

Focus on solving your market’s problems. Identify areas where they need help and are actively looking for information (and willing to pay for it). You can do this by staying in touch with your market everywhere possible online. Find them on forums, social media sites, blogs and other websites and listen.

Creating Products

Creating your products is far simpler than you might think. There is software that allows you to turn a Word file into a PDF that’s ready for sale. Videos and audios are easy to make, and there are tools to help you edit them. The sales process can be automated as well. If you’d rather have a professional create your content for you, you can outsource to a ghostwriter or video creator so that you can just focus on marketing.

Info Products without a Website

You don’t necessarily need a website in order to launch an infoproduct empire. You just need a sales funnel. This could be something like an autoresponder series in which you send messages to your subscribers offering them help on a regular basis. You can then slip in offers for your products. The important thing is simply to be in touch with your target market.
